Friends of Middleton
The Friends of Middleton is our very proactive Parent Teacher Association. Meetings are very informal with tea, coffee and biscuits. Our members are made up of parents, teachers and their respective partners, grandparents and school transport escorts. We welcome anyone wishing to help our children get the very best from their time at Middleton School.
Throughout the year we hold many events to raise funds for our school. Some of the events have become so popular that they have become an established part of the school year. The Christmas Fair is usually our biggest fund raiser of the year.
Around this time we also hold a very unique event called ‘Santa’s Secret Shop’. This has run for the last three years and is very popular with children, parents and teachers. The children bring in their pocket money and during their daily mathematics lesson visit the shop and buy presents for their parents and siblings to surprise them with on Christmas Day. The presents are wrapped there and then.
During the Spring term we normally have an Easter related event such as an Easter bonnet parade and/or sponsored walk. One of the most popular events is the Summer Barbecue which is attended by past, current and new pupils and their families.
The funds raised are put to very good use. In recent years we were able to purchase a second minibus for the school which has really increased pupils’ access to the curriculum. We were also able to contribute towards some improved playground facilities. Christmas is an extra special time for our children as we are able to fund a present from Santa for each child, a party, disco and lunch with all the trimmings and crackers.
These events are always enjoyed by the children, the Friends of Middleton and all those who attend. Members of the Friends of Middleton actually get a real ‘buzz’ from helping to make a difference for our children.
